Recruitment firms 'feel the cost of spam emails'
02/09/2008
Employees sifting through emails to eradicate spam is costing the recruitment sector dearly, according to an IT firm.A spokesperson from recruitment computer support firm Ulysses IT said that dealing with spam more efficiently can reduce the amount of time employees spend sorting through it.
Peter Turner, technical director of the firm, commented: "Business is tight for many recruitment agencies at the moment and they need to get the most out of their people. Having them waste time dealing with spam is just money down the drain."
The latest research from online security organisation PandaLabs found that three-quarters of all email in people's inboxes is spam, onrec.com reported.
Mr Turner recommended that companies find a more effective way to deal with spam in order to keep costs down.
Meanwhile, the results of a poll undertaken by human resources firm Hewitt Associates yesterday revealed that absence through illness is costing UK employers around £1,000 per candidate annually.
