NCGE: Funding for graduate businesses depends on sector
28/07/2008
Whether graduate entrepreneurs will receive funding for their plans "depends on the business", an advisor has said.Though there are many avenues to explore when it comes to financial support, some businesses may struggle more than others, according to The National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship (NCGE).
Lorna Collins, director of the NCGE's flying start programme for women entrepreneurs, said that although "there are many other grants and funds set up", some of these can be "very targeted".
This means that whether or not graduates will receive funding from these bodies "depends on the amount of money you want to borrow and the kind of businesses you want to borrow it for", Ms Collins explained.
The number of small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK increased by 2.9 per cent from 2005 to 2006 and constitutes over half of all UK employment, according to a report published by The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
