Health at work schemes 'still not in place'

Projects aiming to tackle obesity and help workplace wellbeing have not been set up, despite being announced in January, it has been noted.The government announced a £372 million obesity tackling plan earlier this year but has still not put it into place, says Personnel Today.
January's proposed 'Healthy Weight Healthy Lives' project pledged to unite employees and workers to promote health at work.
However, HR workers are said to be disappointed by the lack of activity so far.
HR director at charity Leonard Cheshire Disability, Clare Smith commented: "Our experience working with the government is there are lots of nice words and good ideas. This is just another government initiative".
According to the Department of Health, two-thirds of all adults and one-third of children in the UK are overweight. Health secretary Alan Johnson vowed to make this a priority earlier this year, calling for people to adjust their lifestyles and eating habits.
